would they sign one big deal only to turn around and buy them outright 6 months later? Seems odd. at least that's my view form the cheap seats.

from what i've seen Citrix has a pretty cozy relationship with IBM at the moment. And Cisco. I don't see HP sticking their noses in it. The MS will buy Citrix rumor seems to come around whenever a new MS Server OS comes out and gains a little traction.
