[THIN] Re: Tips for installing Adobe CS2 products?
Thanks, unfortunately, it’s not an option right now. Plus, these users just use them from time to time – they are not using them all day every day.

I have been tasked with installing Adobe Photoshop CS2, Dreamweaver CS2, and InDesign CS2 on a couple of Citrix servers today. They are running Windows 2003 with Presentation Server 4.5.
Does anyone have any tips for running these successfully in this environment?

[THIN] Re: XenApp 4.5 - 32bit or 64bit?
Big benefits as memory can be addressed nativly vs the magic 32 bit OS’s have to do. You get at least a two fold increase in sessions what can be supported vs X32 .
We have been running x64 with 4.0 for 2 years using Screwdrivers 4. Pretty darn stable.

Subject: [THIN] XenApp 4.5 - 32bit or 64bit?
Hi
Im about to build a new farm based on Windows 2003/XenApp 5. Im not sure if I should use 32bit or 64bit for the OS. 80% of our Applications are Web Based. The others such as Office 2003 do not come in 64bit.
Is there any benefit in using 64bit Windows 2003 for mainly web based Apps? Also is there any benefit in using 64bit for Web Interface servers?
Thanks
Ang

Hi All,
We've been getting this for some time on our citrix farm – (W2K3 R2 32-Bit / Citrix 4.5) latest service packs and roll up packs etc.
I've been fixing it by replacing iedkcs32.dll with a previous version, but this gets overwritten every time you apply service packs.
In any case, I don't like having out of date DLLs on the system – Microsoft have obviously updated them for a reason.
Does anyone know of a permanent fix?

[THIN] Re: XenApp 4.5 - 32bit or 64bit?
64-bit allows for a couple of things:
Greater scalability. Web apps can be memory intensive. Weird, but true.
You’ve bitten the 64-bit bullet. Starting with 2008 R2 the server OS is 64-bit only. You’ll have to go 64-bit at some point in time. Either now or later.
64-bit OS on a 64-bit Hypervisor. Less overhead.
For the most part, here is the direction I’ve been going in:
Infrastructure Roles are all 64-bit
Core XenApp servers are 64-bit
Siloed 32-XenApp server for those apps and services that will not run on a x64 platform.

A couple of things.. Does the problem occur with R03? Second, what did you set the memory buffer size to? 8192 is the max in the GUI, however, you can increase both the session pool size and video memory size in the registry.

Subject: [THIN] R04 - Breaks Window Minimize?
We have applied R04 to ZenApp 4.5, W2k3 SP2, tested and it worked beautifully on a full speed network.
We tried on a 3G network, and connected ok (didnt really go any further than that)
Its been rolled out to our servers, but some are now experiencing session 'hang ups' (client is running '52110' > 10.1 client, xp, wth 1024X768 screen)
1. If they load a full desktop, exit full desktop (shift +F2) and try and "shrink" the session we get
"Not enough memory to perform scaling. Quit Some of your active applications, and try again" Even though they have just logged in.
Upping the farms memory display limits has had no effect. Dropping the bit rate of the session (from 32 bit) fixed some clients but not others.
2. If any session is minimised, we get (including the full desktop as described above) the client window outline maximises, but the contents doesnt refresh (sometimes at all) usually until a window or something else is clicked or 'changed' within the session
It only seems to occur on clients with a slow network connection (ie 3g or external clients) as the local LAN - doesnt seem to have th problem at all.
The xenapp plug 11 in seems to resolve the issue, but thats not really a quick solution for us at this stage.
Any list legends out there have any ideas where to look next?
Cheers
JAMES

That is weird as the Sunbelt MSExchange list is very active, has numerous MVPs and several Msft employees on the list.

Wouldn't it be great if someone hated OE so much that they took the time to search the registry for its every instance, evaluated the keys closely and exported them and then combined it all into one nice little .reg file thus allowing one to kill it with just a double-click? Well, I really hate OE that much. Enjoy.

Thanks Ron, and everyone for your help with this, oddly enough, the Lyris site accepted my subscription request and I have been getting messages ?!?
They are addressed to MS-Exchange Admin Issues.
Thank You

The great exchange group that was on lyris – most have gone to these groups now since the lyris one closed. The names above are not typos – there is a dash between the exchange-2003 and not on the 2007 (so much for consistency).

I read it as the disk being corrupted – if so, similary, simply move the entire info store to a new drive (EG a USB one), sort out your initial drive, then move it back. You simply change the location in info store properties to do this – you don't have to manually move it. If it is the drive that is corrupt, replace it, don't reformat it.

I am looking for a group like this one but specifically for Exchange server.
I want to find a list that offers concise and accurate answers in a timely manner, just like this one.
Any suggestions?
Send an e-mail with no subject to lyris@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com. In the body put Subscribe exchangelist .
And if you happen to be an Exchange server 2003 guru, I need to migrate the databases off one drive
so I can reformat it as it has gotten corrupted, and then migrate back, whit of course no data loss.
If your databases are not too corrupted and you are running the Enterprise version of Exchange, this is a very easy process.
1. Create new storage group and locate files on new HD
2. Create new mailbox store and locate the files on new HD
3. Move mailboxes from bad mailbox database to new
4. Rinse, lather, repeat for every storage group on bad drive
5. Rinse, lather, repeat to move the stuff for the new HD back to the old now reformatted HD
