I think Google has good intentions, but a company that large with so much influence is going to do evil whether they intend to or not by nature of thinking that their solution is better and trying to make it widely available
I have been told that the Google apps licenses says that they own the data you create online, does anyone know if that is true?

that is not true with google apps. you still own the data. it is a very fair and customer oriented license.
