[THIN] Re: Slightly OT Remote user question

In ADUC, in the View menu enable Advanced Features.

Open a User object and switch to the Security tab.

Find the object SELF.

Scroll the bottom part down and find Change Password. It will be either Allow or Deny, depending on what you selected for "User Cannot Change Password".

Thanks for the reply, but they talk about User Cannot Change Password (LDAP Provider)

I have no idea what LDAP is or does, but the instruction say to do things that I have never done, like binding the user object?!?

So I am not sure this is the correct area.

I think it's an ACE.

Check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa746508(VS.85).aspx for info on how to read and change it programatically.

I have a number of remote users that log in via MSTSC, in Active Directory I set everyone so they cannot change their password, but even though I check it, and save, the next time I go in, it is unchecked, is there a way in either AD or somewhere else that I can be assured that it is set and locked?

Thank You
