[THIN] Re: OT: Outlook send from different email address

I like that solution. I’ll give it a try…does it work with Outlook 2003?

Ok, the solution we use; slightly less messy.

Create a dummy POP3 mailbox somewhere – doesn’t matter what/where as long as no mail flows to it. This is simply to prevent error messages happening.

Create a POP3/SMTP account in Outlook. Tell it to use the email address you want. For the POP3 account, use the dummy you have created. For SMTP use your exchange IP (You may need to confirm Exchange security).

The Outlook user just has to select the different Account to send from – NB, does *not* use the From field.

I’ve been moaning about this since Exchange 5.5 – wouldn’t hold your breath for MS to react.

I could do that, but I thought that was very messy.

I’m surprised Microsoft have not built this into Outlook/Exchange. Often companies merge and being able to select a different email address within Outlook would be nice. Maybe Exchange 2010.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

How about just adding an additional account to outlook and choose that one to send it from?

Sorry Matt -- i re-read your message and i understand your issue now.

I guess you could create a personal contact with that SMTP address and then select the contact using the "FROM" button.

I have never tried this, but i can't think it not working.

In the new email click on OPTIONS and you can change the from field.

I have multiple email addresses bound to a single account in Exchange 2003. When I send an email the “Primary” email address is used to send the message. How can I select a different email address as the sending email address?

I’m using Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2003.

Thanks for any suggestions on this. I’ve tried googling this but not finding much relevant to this.
