[THIN] Application Memory Usage

Running Presentation Server 4.5 with feature pack 1 on Windows 2003.  Applications consume a lot of RAM when launched, when minimized returns to normal levels, and still normal when maximized again.  A couple examples:

 

Word 38MB (when first launched), 2MB (when minimized), 9MB (when maximized)

Internet Explorer 31MB (when first launched), 4MB (when minimized), 9MB (when maximized)

 

Any idea’s what is causing this excessive memory usage when apps are launched before being minimized?
