[THIN] Re: Word 2007 Spell Check: Solved

It was still pointing to some Word 2003 files, specifically the .lex. Solution (And fortunately only a dozen users on this server):

Go to \HKU\userid\software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\

And rename 1.0 to 1.0old or similar.

The actual problem I think was \HKU\userid\software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\override\en-US where the DLL and LEX key point to non-existent files.

Thanks for thoughts though.

i think the dictionaries are stored in the user's profile under application data.  Filemon from sysinternals should reveal it though.

Guys,

We migrated a server (W2K3, no Citrix) to Office 2007 a while back. Other than needing to buy more RAM, and the Search Indexer getting out of control, our main issue is that the spell-checker no longer works. When explicitly called (F7), it returns the error; "Cannot find the English(UK) dictionary…" and asks to reinstall it. We did actually try that, because the client insisted, but no joy. Under an Admin account, it runs fine. Any ideas?
