[THIN] RDP console not working

I am having a strange problem with the RDP and console sessions. I have a
Windows XP SP3
workstation. I am unable to logon to Windows 2003 servers with a console
session. Have tried:

mstsc /admin
Remote Desktops with console switch checked
Visonapp Remote Desktop with console switch checked

Is there a fix for Windows 2003 or is this a client issue. This happens if
I RDP to physical boxes or VM's
