[THIN] Re: Dropped Session via WI stays as active

Doug,

Try having her open a dos box and start “ping <CitrixServer> -t” as soon as she opens a session. Then work normally until it drops.

When the Citrix session drops, have her observe the still running ping. If it continues to ping successfully after the Citrix session drops, you know that TCP is working and your problem is within the Citrix setup. I would start by enabling or lengthening the ICA KeepAlive.

If the ping begins failing also, the problem is somewhere in the TCP connection. Try pinging something closer to her like her DNS server. If that also fails when the Citrix session drops, you know the problem is between her and her ISP.

Since this is her own PC, is she running a different operating system than the working clients?

Again, since this is her own PC, has she gone to any of the PC “tuning” web sites and had them muck up her network driver/TCP settings/Anti-virus/Anti-spyware/firewall/web browser/on-and-on? Ditto for having her brother/husband/boyfriend/neighbor/teenage son “fix” her PC.

Sorry if it sounds like I’m on a soapbox but privately owned PC’s are notoriously difficult to set up and maintain…and then they want to print.

Subject: [THIN] Re: Dropped Session via WI stays as active

Here are some more details

Just wondering if any of you have ever run into this?

We are on CPS 4.0 WI 4.6 (I believe). I have one client (all the others don't have this happen) who drops constantly and when she does the session stays active.

She is coming in thru a private ISP with her own PC.  It is directly connected to the ISP cable modem.

Using the old SMC tool from citrix I can see data still being transferred but all the latency stuff is sitting frozen.  She gets a message on her screen saying the server is no longer available.

If she shuts her machine down it disconnects.  If she closes her WI ie window does not connect.  She says she has nothing in the system tray  or task manager related to citrix.

10.150.58643 is the ica client version she is using.

I would like to fix the dropping but in the mean time would also like her to be able to reconnect to the session.

If you have any suggestions about the 5 minute drops that would be helpful also.  We have had these type or problems start up around the time we moved to PS4 from PS3.
