Consolidate to an HA NAS solution and reduce the number of shares to one by creating a hierarchical directory structure. Then limit access to branches by setting the appropriate NTFS permissions.
DFS works too, but takes more planning, thought and resources to accomplish.

Subject: [THIN] Citrix - Drive Mappings
Hi List,
I have been tasked with finding a solution to users' drive mappings. One of my managers would like to replace the endless list of drive mappings with another solution, although he is not aware of anything that can do this.
I only know of DFS, that can be used to access network paths/information.
Has anyone implemented a client solution for accessing network paths without using more than one drive mapping?
Kind regards,
Toby
