Hi George,

If any of the published applications has a leading or trailing blank space as well as two consecutive spaces in the distinguished name it will generate the error(s) you described.

Email me privately if you have any questions.

Subject: [THIN] 100's of XML errors on the WIs

I have 2 Farms that are serviced by 4 load balanced Web Interfaces, they all answer to the same DNS name. One farm is 4.0 with only 4 servers in it, the other is 4.5 with approx. 35 servers. The WI machines are 4.6. I'm seeing the below message in the application logs of each Web Interface every 5 to 10 minutes:

An error of type "IMA" with an Error ID of "0x80000001" was reported by the XML Service at address "http://rus-ctxpress11s:80/scripts/wpnbr.dll [com.citrix.xml.NFuseProtocol.RequestAppData]". This XML Service transaction failed, but the XML Service has not been removed from the list of active services.

There is one of these for every CPS that is listed as an XML broker. I've tried the following on all the CPS servers via Citrix's Tech Support suggestion with no luck, Cleared the IMA Local Host Cache, unregistered XML, reregistered XML on port 80 and restarted it.

I've also done a dscheck /Full Servers before the above steps and had 1 hostID with no corresponding MfServer node entry. After reloading LHC and reregistering XML I get over 30 of them. I haven't done a /clean with it yet.

Any suggestions on where my issues could be? Does it appear my Datastore is corrupt in some way?

Any help or hints would be great.

[THIN] Re: Office 2003 sp3 and updates etc

Yup. Login to your server and run SET from a command prompt. I had the problem after an application I installed changed the environment variable for Programfiles back to C:\program files. If not there then do a search in your registry for C:\ and see what you come up with.

Subject: [THIN] Office 2003 sp3 and updates etc

Good morning,

I have been updating a single citrix server site over the break with hotfixes and patches etc, I have hit a snag running the Office 2003 sp3 and updates etc.

The server has been remapped to M: and the sp / updates for office baulk on cannot find c:\

Has anyone been able to resolve this quite easily?

I checked the sp3 MSI using /? but no mention of being able to specify the destination location, I also tried using subst which also failed.

Have an excellent new year

Rob

[THIN] Re: Office 2003 sp3 and updates etc

Yes I can't remember the registry key right off but there is a key under the office 11 hive in the registry that lists the install directory. Just change that to your cd drive letter and put the office CD in and the updates will work Oh found the kb
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884298 this will fix it.

[THIN] Re: IE 6 question

I just use VB. Try this, I have problems with sites not working properly in kiosk mode so this is what I use. Just insert your URL in the script and run cscript scriptname.

Set objExplorer = WScript.CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")

objExplorer.Navigate "http://URL"

objExplorer.ToolBar = 0

objExplorer.StatusBar = 0

objExplorer.Width=1000

objExplorer.Height = 700

objExplorer.Left = 0

objExplorer.Top = 0

objExplorer.Visible = 1

Hi,
We want to remove all the menu options from IE 6. I have found some gp settings that remove all but Edit, View, Tools and Help.

Can't figure out how to remove them. Don't want to use the -k kiosk option.

Thanks for any answers.

If you run filemon you may discover that it's looking for missing files in c:\windows\installer

and yes, why not go with R03?

[THIN] Another AV survey

I know we do this every so often, but we are reviewing our AV/Malware for the new year. We are a relatively small organisation, 30-odd servers (Backend and TS). We had Norton, made the mistake of moving to Symantec SEP, and are now looking for a simple, effective, low footprint, AV solution.

We are currently inclining to Sophos. Any experience, positive or negative? Or other appropriate suggestions?

Try uninstall any other Citrix patches you have installed and then go to Add/Remove programs and run a repair on Citrix Presentation server. Then try R01 again.

Thanks, I've ran MedEvac and dscheck and all seems ok, just de-installed R06
and the PS 4.0 w2k3 farm is functioning normal again... Maybe one server was
corrupting xml traffic, but could not find any clues in the ima store
(dscheck) or via MedEvac.

Thanks for your support!

[THIN] Re: After PSE400W2K3R06 : MPSError type="IMA"0x80000032

Hi,

All seems to be ok regarding the ima store, ran all kind of checks with dscheck and none 'failed'. Looks like uninstalling R06 is the only option at the moment (http://forums.citrix.com/thread.jspa?threadID=240052&tstart=0).

[THIN] New Free App - TSTaskman

Dear All

Happy holidays.

Another handy little utility from the house of Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy. As always download it for
free from http://www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au/CAD_TSUtils.htm

TSTaskman is a standalone Windows GUI tool designed to show a user the list of processes running
in their Terminal Server session only. Processes can then be terminated by the user by selecting
the process and pressing the terminate button.

This utility was written for the purpose of allowing users to terminate frozen programs or processes
that exist only in the Terminal Server Session of the currently logged in user. The GUI lists all the
running processes in the Terminal Session of the logged on user, and does not display any other
user or system processes. This allows TSTaskman to be presented as an application on the user
desktop or as a published application, giving the user the ability to manage frozen applications
within a Terminal Server session, should they occur. After correct user training of TSTaskman, help
desk calls can be significantly reduced by allowing users to terminate unresponsive applications,
without the concerns that the user can terminate other processes not running in their session.

Although written for Terminal Server and Citrix environments, this application will function on non-
TS/Citrix workstations and servers. This application has been tested on the following platforms:

Windows 2003 Server SP1
Windows 2003 Server SP1 w/ Citrix PS 4.0
Windows 2003 Server SP1 (Terminal Server Application Mode)
Windows 2000 Server SP4
Windows 2000 Server SP4 w/ Citrix MF XP
Windows 2000 Server SP4 (Terminal Server Application Mode)
Windows 2000 Server SP4 w/ Citrix MF 1.8
Windows XP Professional (domain member)

This utility is FREEWARE and was written by Warren Simondson of
Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy, Australia. www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au

The freeware version is offered AS IS. Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy has made every effort possible
to ensure that TSTaskman is free of any bugs or errors, however in no way is TSTaskman to be
considered error or bug free. You assume all responsibility for any damages or lost data that may
result from any errors or bugs in TSTaskman.

IN NO EVENT WILL CTRL-ALT-DEL IT CONSULTANCY BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY
GENERAL,SPECIAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL,
INCIDENTAL OR OTHER DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THIS PRODUCT.

[THIN] Re: After PSE400W2K3R06 : MPSError type="IMA"0x80000032

I too had problems with Web Interface not seeing the published app after my
4.5 upgrade which included PSE450W2K3R03. Citrix Support had me download
MedEvac which I used to locate a 'damaged' application which was causing the
XML service to send unintelligible information to the Web Interface. Once I
deleted that published application all was well. I was in a mixed 4.0 / 4.5
farm at the time which supposedly contributed to this problem. It is
available here http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX107935

Here is what MedEvac does in its own words:

MedEvac Tool Version 2.5

Created Date: September 20, 2006

Updated Date: September 23, 2008

Description
-----------
The MedEvac tool is utilized to run checks against a Presentation Server
farm to verify environment health.

This tool can be used to check the following components of a Presentation
Server Farm:

1. Verify XML Service Health:

a. Verifies that the XML service is able to respond to an XML, Web
Interface, Program Neighborhood Agent or Program Neighborhood Client
request.

b. Verifies that the XML brokers are able to contact the Data
Collector.

2. Verify Data Collector Health:

a. Verifies Data Collector is able to provide a least loaded server
for the specified application.

b. Verifies IMA Service on the Data Collector is functioning
properly.

c. Verifies the IMA Service can read the Data Collector's LHC.

d. Verifies that the IMA Service can read its Dynamic Store data.

e. Verifies at least one server in the farm has this application
published.

3. Verify least loaded server health:

a. Verifies Term Service on least loaded server.

b. Verifies RPC Service on least loaded server.

We use explicit logon default instead of Autologon.

No we did not add more groups to all ID's, I use a baseline account and that
did not change but also dos not see all published app's it is granted to.

Thanks, indeed did a check on all that (no sharing with IIS and config is
still correct), nothing has changed only the fact w've rolled out
PSE400W2K3R06 on the Citrix servers.

[THIN] Re: After PSE400W2K3R06 : MPSError type="IMA"0x80000032

Forgot the obvious, can you telnet to your XML port on your data collector, assuming you are using port 80. Is it sharing with IIS? Have you looked at your Web Interface and made sure your config still set to pointing to the correct XML servers?

As far as the first part of the problem, do you get the same problem if you use explicit instead of Autologon?

For the second part of the problem, what do you get back when you run dscheck? Did you recently add more groups to your ID's. I had a similar problem and we had to do an xml fix to the data collectors in order to process accounts that had more then a certain amount of AD groups...that was with PS 3.0 though.

Subject: [THIN] After PSE400W2K3R06 : MPSError type="IMA"0x80000032

Hi,

Tested last week PSE400W2K3R06 on a test server and everything went ok so
rolled out yesterday PSE400W2K3R06 in production (Windows 2003 SP2 , PS 4.0
farm), but now a lot of people only see a few of all published applications
they are granted for (via Program Neighborhood client). WebInterface 4.5
even does not show any application. Looking at the WI servers I found
following error messages:

"The XML document sent by the Citrix servers could not be processed because
it contains invalid XML. This message was reported from the XML Service at
address "http://<server ip>:80/scripts/wpnbr.dll
http://com.citrix.xml.NFuseProtocol.RequestAppData". This XML Service could
not be contacted and will be temporarily removed from the list of active
services. Log ID: 2578550e"

And detail from networksnif on WI server:

</AppData>
<AppData>
<InName>Exact2;WUR 353</InName>
<FName>Exact ;WUR 353</FName>
<Details>
</Details>
<SeqNo>1223897127</SeqNo>
<ServerType>win32</ServerType>
<ClientType>ica30</ClientType>
</AppData>
<AppData>
<InName>IE</InName>
15c

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE NFuseProtocol SYSTEM "NFuse.dtd">
<NFuseProtocol version="4.1">
<ResponseAppData>;
<ErrorId>unspecified</ErrorId>
<MPSError type="IMA">0x80000032</MPSError>
<BrowserError>0x00000024</BrowserError>
</ResponseAppData>
</NFuseProtocol>

Recreating the local host cache is not working. A restore of the data store
before the PSE400W2K3R06 did not work either.
Any ideas what is the culprit?

Andre
