[THIN] Re: off topic: USB Cable Length

looks like there are a few out there that extend usb over a length of cat 5.  I wonder how well it works.

Maximum USB Cable Length

The max cable length MOTU recommends between a USB computer and USB interface is 5 meters (16.5 feet).

Longer runs can be achieved thru the use of POWERED USB HUBS. For extremely long runs,

MOTU has tested the device USB CAT5 EXTENDER referenced in the link below.

This allows USB runs of up to 100 feet!

who knows what the maximum length is for a usb cable?



we are putting in a ceiling mount projector and want to run a usb cable from the projector down to a wall plate we put in for connecting the vga etc.
