This is because whoever installed it didn't delete the UserName section.

To rectify the problem change the HKCU registry of Office\UserInfo.

when office is installed locally and i check the help/about/ licenced

way, we can see who has an office file open. When i use office over
citrix,it tells me ofice is licenced to admin; this way we cant se who

[THIN] Re: Can't See printers as administrator in PS4

I was hopeful but no go.

I can still only see the locally define printers on the server and any auto created printers mapped via the Citrix Universal Printer Driver (for clients).

What I thought I used to be able to see is any printers a user has.  Whether using UPD, local print drivers.  And even if citrix? has directed to the network print queue directly or thru the client.

Back in PS 3 I was able to see all printers clients had when I logged onto a citrix server as the administrator.

Since ps 4 (I think) I am only able to see autocreated using the UPD.

Someone once told me there is a registry change that can be done to see all printers.

I have looked around and can't find this change.

Any chance any of you can point me to the change somewhere?

[THIN] Re: OT: free/open source help desk software

My vote always goes for request tracker by best practical.

We have it hooked into AD with LDAP and it works great. Its open
source, its quick, and there are a number of things that plug into it.

It once was a pain to get it to install, but its packaged by all the
major vendors now, so installation is painless too.

If you do decide on it and need some help with it, feel free to drop me a line.

Spiceworks 3 is coming out soon and should be a little more robust.

perldesk was my favorite when we evaluated things.  Not free but pretty cheap.

everyone else decided they liked spiceworks better so that is what we went with.

XP workstations, running the published app. off W2K3 Citrix servers.

We actually use an Xcopy to copy the java info to the users profile at logon.

We added javaw.exe to the list of allowed applications.

Is it 2008 server or Vista Workstations?  Either scenario Java works very differently then on 2003.  All of the Java apps are put into the users Localow directory of the profile which unfortunately does not roam along with the profile and will stay on the server or ws.

Any ideas of something I am missing for Java?

Chad,

Maybe turning on SRP logging would point you in the right direction?

Chad,

Are there any other GPO differences besides restricted applications? There may be some Java-specific settings at fault.

[THIN] Re: PS3 w/R04 - CMC is practically empty on Zone Master

Well, if I may answer my own email...

It seems there were some discrepancies in the file in C:\Program Files\Citrix\Administration\Ext between my 2 ZMs. After renaming this directory on the problem ZM and copying it from the good ZM the CMC is operating normally.

One symptom mentioned regarding the pub apps I deleted still showing up in the WI was because I'd forgotten we had the Remote Desktop icons published from a different directory so I had not deleted those, hence they were still showing.  Nothing like having a red herring thrown in the mix.

I have since reviewed this directory on 10 of the 12 ZM in this domain (10 recently had R04 installed) and found 4 others have the contents of the the ZM that had the CMC rendering problem - no symptoms yet.  As I did not install the patches I am not sure if they were done differently or if there is a problem with R04.  I did write the process and it was the same for all servers. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Seems like I've seen this one before but can't recall the fix so I thought maybe someone could help.  Some kind of Java issue?

One of our 2 Zone Master's CMC stopped rendering nearly everything today.  I can see the zone name at the top left and Metaframe Administrators.  Nothing else is showing and the View option at the top does not provide a list.  This seemed to occur right after I deleted some published apps in the CMC of the other ZM.  As well, the pub apps are still rendering to the users in the WI.  The pub apps are not listed in the CMC of a couple of member servers I checked.

I ran dsmaint recreatelhc and rebooted but did not resolve issue. I noticed the imalhc.mdb is smaller on the problem ZM than the other one so I recreated the LHC again and now the file is slightly larger than the ZM working fine.

I then noticed the problem CMC ZM server had 2 versions of Java installed (1.4.2_02 & 1.4.2_06) but the working one has only 1.4.2_06 so I deleted 1.4.2_02 and rebooted to no avail. I ran FileMon but did not glean anything.

These are both on Win2K SP4.  Not sure if it's relevant that MSFT April patch and Citrix PS3 R04 were installed a couple of days ago.  I verified it's not just my profile by having another Admin duplicate the issue.

I found only one thing from Citrix KB that seems to mirror my symptom.. http://support.citrix.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=62&threadID=76170&tstart=0
but this refers to moving zones.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

[THIN] Re: Some users cannot connect to any apps

Stephanie,

All great questions.  We have the other 40 users using the same apps on multiple servers without issue.  I even created a copy of one of the apps and kept changing the server so I could rule out, but none of them would work for the 3 users.  I could not narrow it down to an app (all of them were showing the error) nor could I narrow it down to a server.  The only thing that it could be narrowed down to was the actual users.

The good news is that miraculously it began working today.  I don't know why.  My best guess is that there was something else going on that the remote office was not sharing with me.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Jim

It does seem to lean toward something with their AD accounts.  Maybe Group Policy that is not updating? I have had that happen before where members were added to a group affected by GPO and the GPO is not correctly updating on the server and a manual gpupdate did not fix it.  I had to remove the users from the group and add them back in again then run gpupdate.

Do all 45 users only need to connect to one hosted application?  Are there other apps that can be tested?  If there are other apps do they point to the same server(s)?  Does this pub app point to one server or more than one?  Some of our published apps point to multiple servers and we find the problem is with one server so we remove other servers from LB one by one and narrow it down.

Good luck,

Stephanie Atkinson

Here's a fun one.  We have a remote office with 40-45 users.  All but 3 of them can connect to one of our hosted applications.  The 3 are getting the "Cannot Connect to the Citrix Presentation Server".  We have had them (3 people) try to log on using another computer and they get the same error.  I have had working people try to log onto the 3 non-working computers and they do not get the error.
Sounds to me like it is something to do with the 3 users.  I have verified their AD access and group membership (matches one of the working people) and I have deleted their roaming profile in order to create a new one.
The error is indicative of their PC not being able to connect to the Citrix server.  We have successfully pinged every Citrix server from their PCs without any issues.  Again, I had other people log into Citrix on their computers and everything works fine.
Has anyone every seen anything like this before?  Online hasn't been helpful so far.
Very frustrated,
